Gallagher Bassett Minimizes Risk with TIC IT Solutions

In 1927, during the peak of the Roaring Twenties, a determined and focused young insurance salesman left a successful career with the largest insurance broker in Chicago to start his own firm. Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is our legal name.

Sound business practices enabled the company to weather the economic storm of October 1929, on the way to becoming one of the largest insurance brokers in the world. As part of this growth, Gallagher founded a subsidiary, Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. (GB), in 1962 to provide customized risk management programs, such as workers compensation and liability claims processing, to what has become an international client base.

Today, GB is the largest multi-line property/casualty third-party administrator, helping clients reduce risk exposures and claims processing costs, along with a host of other risk management services. Dan Brown, a 20-year veteran at GB, is the Director of System Technology and Planning for the firm. His relationship with TIC and Phil Ly, the company's chief technologist, goes back almost a decade.

"Some of the earlier products we worked with TIC to implement were their TeleFTP and TeleMail offerings to automate the retrieval and distribution of the report data generated from our mainframe system," explained Brown. "Now we're putting the finishing touches on the newly integrated Report.Web implementation, to better serve our clients as well as assist our employees in their jobs."

Report.Web is TIC's secure, efficient and cost-effective report distribution system that Web-enables host-generated reports for remote viewing via Internet, intranet or extranet. GB is installing Report.Web for its monthly workers compensation and liability claims reporting - to provide easier and more immediate access to claims information for both clients and employees. Furthermore, generated report data may be seamlessly imported into MS Excel for detailed analysis and dissemination, a functionality that GB intends to fully capitalize upon.
